At Home with Ariel: Guest Bathroom Remodel

Find out how our founder and her husband took their bathroom from totally gutted to totally gorgeous!

Looking to transform your bathroom from “blah” to beautiful? Take some inspo from our founder’s gorgeous guest bathroom! But this blue oasis didn’t always look like the calm and serene space it is today.

When Ariel and her husband first moved into their home, it was totally gutted. They moved into their space, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work on their renovations. Though they hired a team of contractors, electricians, and other experts to help along their journey, the guest bathroom was a labor of love that they brought to life almost exclusively on their own.

Ariel’s husband, Robert, took it upon himself to complete the entire guest bathroom over the course of four weeks. From laying the shower walls to the backsplash to the trim, he placed each individual tile on his own little by little to give the space a bright and modern feel. He then tiled the floor and the front of the bathtub before adding grout and finishing his masterpiece!

Once the tile was finished, the next step was the medicine cabinet. The couple opted for a lighted design that had the power source inside. But that’s when the project ran into another hiccup—the contractor made the cabinet opening the wrong size. The cabinet opening had to be reframed and the drywall had to be redone before and the project could move forward. Finally after fixing the framing issues, the cabinet could be installed achieving a perfect fit.

Next came the fun part—the wall-mounted vanity from Wayfair and the serene blue hue on the walls. At the same time, the finishing touches were being put on the plumbing and an electric tankless water heater was being installed in the garage. This ensured that the bathroom didn’t just look beautiful, but also functioned properly.

Once everything was finished and checked off on the punch list, this breathtaking bathroom makeover was complete! Decorative elements like hand towels, macramé hangings, and pops of greenery were the last details added to bring the space to life.
