If you have ever wondered what goes into creating a magazine-worthy space using curated furniture and interior styling, you are in for a treat. We were invited for a Mor Furniture Design Collab to style two beautiful spaces — a dining room and a living room — as part of their Designer Series. And we are giving you a full behind-the-scenes look at our design process.
Whether you are a design enthusiast, homeowner looking for inspiration, or another designer yourself, this post will walk you through how we bring together furniture, texture, color, and accessories to create warm, welcoming interiors. Plus, we have sprinkled in some styling tips and shoppable links to help you recreate the look.
The short answer
For Mor Furniture’s Designer Series, we styled a dining room and a living room in one design day. The dining room pairs California Coastal calm with a tropical boho twist; the living room blends coastal ease with Palm Springs desert warmth. Both start with a neutral anchor and layer color, texture and local makers on top.
First Up: The Dining Room Transformation
Our first space for the interior design day was a bold, boho-inspired dining room makeover featuring some of our favorite pieces from Mor Furniture — the Francisco Dining Table, Crispen Chairs, and Abington Rug.

The Design Concept: Tropical Meets Boho Vibes
We knew we wanted a fresh, earthy feel with a bold twist. Inspired by the rich hue of the Crispen Chairs, we developed a Boho and Tropical Floral theme rooted in natural materials and vibrant color.
We created a mood board pulling together tones of terracotta, natural woven textures, and organic shapes. This step is key in any room styling session because it helps us lock in the visual direction before sourcing the final elements.
Key Elements We Styled With for this Mor Furniture Design Collab:
- Wall Baskets from our Salt + Citrus home collection, handmade by women in Africa through Kazi, adding texture and heart.
- Floral Arrangement from Carousel of Flowers in Escondido, California.
- Local Artwork by Shay La’Vee Photography added a grounded, personal touch.
Product Pairings to Recreate the Look:
From CB2:
- Torino White Textured Vase (similar options from Williams Sonoma)
- Ceres White Vase (another version here)
- Ontempri Cognac Dinnerware Set
- Rum Raisin Velvet Placemats
- Edra Fringe Napkins (or shop alternatives here)
From Crate & Barrel:
- Craft Shop Clay Footed Bowl (check out Pottery Barn’s)
- Dainty Gold Napkin Rings (we also love these ones from Williams Sonoma)
How We Styled the Dining Room Step by Step

1. Start with a Clear Theme and Color Palette
We combined our signature California Coastal aesthetic with a tropical boho twist. The natural tones of the Francisco Dining Table and Abington Rug grounded the space while giving us room to play with bold accents.
2. Pick a Neutral Anchor Piece
A neutral rug or table creates versatility. It gives you a timeless base you can style differently each season.
3. Define a Focal Point
In this case, the Francisco Dining Table was our centerpiece — modern, clean, and warm.
4. Mix Wall Art and Hanging Decor
We layered pieces from Shay La’Vee and Salt + Citrus to balance soft florals with earthy texture.
5. Play with Pops of Color
The mauve Crispen Chairs introduced rich contrast without overwhelming the palette. Don’t shy away from color — use it strategically.

Styling the Living Room Step by Step for Our Mor Furniture Design Day
1. Establish Your Focal Piece
We used the Niki Seating Collection to create a faux sectional layout. Its modularity makes it perfect for small space styling while maintaining visual flow.
2. Layer Texture and Color
We used throws, pillows, and small decor pieces from Salt + Citrus in sunset tones — rust, gold, teal, and soft blue.
Key Accessories:
- Soft Yellow and Blue Throw Blankets
- Rust and Gold Throw Pillow
- White Beaded Bowl and Glass Beads
- Teal Macramé Art
- Leather Tray and Faux Plants

Pro Styling Tip: When stacking coffee table books, place the largest book on the bottom and layer up by size for visual balance.
3. Finish with Light and Life
Add plants (real or faux), baskets, and accent lighting like the Ancel Table Lamp to give warmth and depth.

From challenge to solution
Styling a showroom space in a single day means every decision has to count. Here is how we approached it.
01 · THE CHALLENGE
Two rooms, one day, a set catalog
We had to create two magazine-worthy rooms from Mor Furniture’s collection, each with its own personality, in a single design day.
02 · OUR APPROACH
A clear concept for each room
We built a mood board for each space, anchored it with a neutral hero piece (the Francisco Dining Table and the modular Niki seating) and layered color, texture and art from local makers and our Salt + Citrus collection.
03 · THE RESULT
Two rooms with distinct personalities
An earthy boho dining room and a sun-drenched living room retreat, both proof that a neutral foundation and intentional styling can transform a space.
Frequently asked questions
Let the chair set the accent color, keep the table and rug neutral, then repeat the accent in art, florals and tableware so the room feels intentional.
Use modular or scaled seating, a neutral base, layered textiles and warm lighting. Fewer, better pieces keep the room open and comfortable.
Place the largest book on the bottom and layer up by size, then top the stack with a small object for height and interest.
