Great design doesn’t just happen. It’s the result of a clear process, an intentional team, and a client who’s ready to stop tolerating their home and start being shaped by it.
If you’ve been looking at our portfolio and wondering what it would actually feel like to work with us — this post is for you. We want you to know exactly what to expect: not a glossy overview, but a clear, honest picture of how we move a project from your first conversation to the moment you walk into a finished space and exhale.
Here’s how it works.
01 Discovery Call — complimentary
Every project begins here. Our Discovery Call is a complimentary conversation — no pressure, no pitch — where we get to know you, your home, and what you’re hoping to create. We’ll talk through your project goals, your timeline, and how you live in your space. You’ll also get a clear picture of how we work and whether we’re the right fit for each other.
This call matters to us. We take on projects selectively, and we want to make sure that when we say yes, we can fully show up for you.
02 In-Person Consultation
When the Discovery Call confirms we’re aligned, the next step is a 1.5-hour in-person consultation at your home. This is where we really get to know you — your family, your values, what’s working in your space and what isn’t. We walk the architecture together, taking in how the home is structured, how light moves through it, how your family actually lives in it. All of that context is what allows us to start aligning your vision with what’s possible — and to thoughtfully incorporate your dream into what’s already there.
From that foundation, we gather everything we need to build a thorough, accurate design proposal tailored specifically to your project. This session is an investment — and it’s the foundation for everything that follows.

03 Design Proposal
Based on our consultation, we prepare a detailed proposal outlining scope, phasing, and investment range. We draw on data from past projects to build a preliminary estimate that gives you a grounded, realistic picture of what your project will involve — financially and logistically — before you commit to anything.
Budgeting is one of the places where working with an experienced designer pays for itself. Seventeen years of project data means we know where costs tend to run high, where there’s genuine flexibility, and how to help you prioritize for lasting impact. Architectural Digest’s renovation budgeting guide↗ is a useful reference for understanding cost categories broadly — but we’ll walk you through exactly what applies to your home and your scope specifically.

04 Programming — gathering everything that matters
Once the proposal approved and the contract is signed, we go deep before we go creative. The programming phase is our discovery process for the design itself — and it’s one of the most important steps in the process. We send detailed client questionnaires that prompt you to think carefully about how you want each space to function, what you’re drawn to, and what hasn’t been working. We ask you to save and share inspiration images — from Pinterest↗, magazines, anywhere — so we can start reading the patterns in what resonates with you.
All of that data — your answers, your imagery, the notes from your consultation, the architecture of your home — gets synthesized into a clear design brief. This is the foundation every decision, material selection, and spatial plan is built on. It’s what ensures that when you walk into the finished space, it feels unmistakably like you — not just beautiful, but right.
05 Design Planning — where the vision takes shape
Once we’re in agreement on scope and investment, the creative work begins in full. This is the phase clients often describe as the most exciting — and the most clarifying. We develop detailed space plans and layouts, build out your material and finish palette, curate furniture and fixture selections, and present everything in a comprehensive design package that includes floor plans, elevations, rendered visuals, product samples, and a full investment breakdown.
Every selection is intentional. Nothing lands in the design without a reason — whether that’s function, scale, materiality, or the way a piece will live in the space over time. We shop with you when it serves the project, and we source widely — to find exactly the right pieces.
06 Procurement — handled entirely behind the scenes
Once selections are approved, we manage every aspect of procurement. We place all orders, track each shipment, coordinate delivery scheduling, inspect items upon arrival, and handle storage until installation. If something becomes unavailable — a supplier changes lead times, a product is discontinued — we resolve it without bringing the chaos to you.
This phase is largely invisible to clients, which is precisely the point. You’re not tracking orders or fielding delivery calls. We are.

07 Construction Admin — keeping every trade aligned
For renovation and remodel projects, this is the phase that separates a smooth experience from a stressful one. We coordinate directly with your builder, subcontractors, vendors, and our CAD specialist to ensure the project moves forward as planned. We catch problems before they become costly, keep trades communicating, and hold the design vision intact through every phase of construction.
Our clients often tell us that this is where the value of working with a full-service studio becomes most apparent. Design decisions happen in real time on a job site — and having a designer who can make those calls confidently, without delays, keeps your project on schedule. You can read more about the full scope of what we offer on our services pageint.
08 The Reveal
Before we bring you in, we handle everything. Installation, styling, finishing details, final walkthrough — all of it is complete before you see the space. We style every surface, make any last adjustments, and prep the home for the moment you’ve been building toward.
Then we open the door.
It’s our favorite part of the process, and it never gets old. We also leave you with a curated care guide — practical information for maintaining your finishes, caring for your materials, and keeping the space looking the way it does on reveal day.
What makes this process work
The short answer: structure, trust, and a team that’s genuinely invested in the outcome. Our studio model — with Ariel leading design, Sarah managing operations, Katlyn handling technical documentation, and Robert overseeing installations — means every phase of your project has the right person in the right role. You’re never wondering who’s responsible for what.
What we build isn’t just a beautiful space. It’s a home that works for your actual life — the Tuesday nights, the Sunday mornings, the way your family moves through a room. Design that holds up to real living is the standard we hold ourselves to on every project.
If you’re ready to begin, or just starting to consider what’s possible, we’d love to hear about your home. Learn more about us and our approachint, then let’s talk.
