When this fun-loving couple and their adorable pup asked us to transform their kitchen into something modern, warm, and quietly luxurious, we couldn’t wait to get started.
Meet Project Duncan: a stunning kitchen renovation where clean lines meet coastal calm, and natural textures mingle with bold, sophisticated finishes. Our clients wanted a space that felt effortlessly elegant, deeply livable, and totally “them.” They envisioned a kitchen that could do it all—serve as a place to gather, unwind, host, and create.
We took that vision and ran with it.

Kitchen Transformation
The original space lacked warmth, light, and personality. Our goal was to give it depth, functionality, and a refined, modern feel while honoring the relaxed charm of Southern California living.
We replaced the dated cabinetry with custom units in a rich, dark wood finish. The tone added an immediate sense of grounding and luxury, while sleek built-in lighting brought both ambiance and task-friendly functionality. These cabinets don’t just store; they elevate.
At the center of it all sits a stunning quartzite island, chosen for its natural movement and organic veining. It’s the kind of surface that draws you in—inviting enough for casual mornings with coffee and striking enough to impress your dinner guests. We enlarged the island to include more storage and seating, making it a true multitasker.
Oh, and did we mention the custom built-in lighting that makes the cabinets glow from within?
Other Design Details that Deserve a Closer Look
We selected a backsplash that adds a soft shimmer and subtle texture, perfectly complementing the wood tones and natural stone. It stops just above the upper cabinetry, creating a clean, intentional finish without overwhelming the space.
To bring in additional detail and personality, we added ribbed glass fronts on select upper cabinets. This small touch introduced a layer of texture and vintage flair. The surrounding countertops were upgraded with smooth, durable quartz, providing a clean and timeless contrast to the richness of the cabinetry and island.
Finishing Touches
And because we believe thoughtful design includes every member of the family, we built in custom dog bowls right into the lower cabinetry. It’s a practical and stylish detail that blends perfectly with the space.
