Mor Furniture x ASR Design Studio: Behind the Scenes of our Design Day
We were recently invited to style two spaces for Mor Furniture’s Designer Series, where we used their furniture pieces to design two rooms — a dining room and a living area. We love how they turned out, and can’t wait to show you a peek behind the scenes!
Ready for a deep dive into the designs? Let’s go!

first up, the dining room
We created this dining room with Mor Furniture’s Francisco Dining Table, Crispen Chairs, and Abington Rug.
We knew we wanted an earthy, boho feel to the space. Given the stunning color of the chairs, we also wanted to go a bit bold with the theme for this space.
We settled on a Boho & Tropical Floral look.
with that in mind, we created a mood board for the space
To pair with the furniture, we pulled in some other pieces to create the space.
We pulled the Round Wall Baskets from Salt + Citrus, our home collection. The baskets are handmade with natural grasses by women in Africa. These women support their families and send their children to school by creating all natural handmade items for the home — it’s fabulous! Kazi is the company where we source these incredible pieces from.
We also sourced the gorgeous artwork from a local artist, Shay La’Vee Photography. The stunning floral arrangement is from Carousel of Flowers in Escondido, California.
to get the exact look for yourself, here are some more furnishings we used in the space
From CB2, we pulled in the following pieces:
Torino White Textured Vase — Here’s some similar vases from Williams Sonoma
Ceres White Vase — Here’s one we love from Williams Sonoma
Ontempri Cognac Brown Dinnerware Set — You can find some gorgeous glassware from Anthropologie with a similar look here
Rum Raisin Maroon Velvet Placemat
Edra Fringe Orange Cloth Napkin — Here are some other gorgeous cloth napkins from Anthropologie that would look great in this space
From Crate & Barrel we sourced:
Craft Shop Clay Footed Bowl — Another option from Threshold with Studio McGee can be found here
Dainty Gold Napkin Rings — You can’t go wrong with a set like these from Williams Sonoma
let’s chat about the design process of this dining room (and how you can copy the process for yourself)
First thing’s first: Selecting a color palette and/or a theme.
We approach each project with our signature style: California Coastal. For this specific room, we added that boho & tropical floral vibe as well. We knew this would look great with the furniture — and give some inspiration for a fun holiday feel for your dining rooms this season!
Next, you’ll want to make sure at least one of your staple pieces of furniture is neutral — this helps in changing up the decor from season to season.
For this space, we selected a neutral rug — the Mor Furniture Abington Rug — to anchor the space. We pulled in some other earthy, natural pieces like the textured vase and wall hangings to carry this feeling through the room.
After that, you’ll want to select your focal point.
For this space, the focal point was the Mor Furniture Francisco Dining Table. This is the perfect focal piece to be eye-catching without overpowering the space.
Now it’s time to mix and match art & wall hangings to bring some color and texture into your space.
The agave art from Shay La’Vee Photography and the wall hanging from Salt + Citrus served as accents to the floral arrangement and contributed to the overall coastal vibe. The mixing and matching of the wall hangings and art allowed us to create a cohesive yet dynamic space.
Finally, don’t be afraid to use color.
We brought in mauve tones to pop off of the blacks, blues, and greens in the space. The Mor Furniture Crispen Chairs provided the perfect pop of color to pull this space together.
We love pulling in colors and textures to create a sophisticated yet inviting space for gatherings with friends and family.

next up, the living room
Like the dining room, we knew we wanted this space to embody our California Coastal design style. However, we decided to put a Palm Springs Desert spin on it. We wanted to create a place where you can relax and curl up on the sofa. We also took into consideration small spaces and how to maximize them for ultimate comfort and style.
We made it happen with Mor Furniture’s Niki Arm Chair, Niki Armless Chair, and Niki Ottoman. We also used their Kisper Coffee + End Tables, Ancel Table Lamp, Lanport Accent Table, Abington Rug, and Posy Tray.
Like with the dining room, we first selected our focal piece.
The focal piece for this space are the Niki Chairs, forming a sofa-like seating arrangement that’s as functional as it is stylish. It serves as a stunning but neutral base for the rest of the room.
we then pulled in some color and texture to take the space to the next level.
We started with a light, airy, and soft look with pieces like the Soft Yellow & Soft Blue Throw Blankets from Salt + Citrus. The White Beaded Bowl, Glass Beads, and Playful Elephant — also from Salt + Citrus — all contributed to this look as well.
We then added some pops of color in sunset shades like the Rust & Gold Throw Pillow from Salt + Citrus and more of Shay La’Vee’s wonderful photography. We also added in some warmth with baskets, this Salt + Citrus Leather Tray, and wooden accents.
Finally, some grey, teal, and blue pops of color added a touch of excitement to the serene space. The Teal Macrame along with plenty of coffee table books — both from Salt + Citrus — accomplished this.
Bonus styling tip: When using coffee table books, place the largest book on the bottom and stack the rest in order of largest to smallest.
Some finishing touches brought the space to life.
Faux plants from Salt + Citrus along with a few final pieces like baskets and tabletop accessories finished off the space.
